Taking the DAVECAST to the next level

I must say, I’m quite excited about this whole podcasting thing now. iTunes has just published my feed in their store (get it here!) and I know that I have a good handful of faithful and highly treasured listeners. Very encouraging!

Give it a try – dave8.com/davecast or go to the iTunes link – see what you think. The more feedback you give me the better the podcasts will get.

I would also like to get some more interviews done – although I need to work out the best way to do that via the internettage and the kind of limited technology I currently own. Anyone up for an interview?

Concision – a new one for me. This is anything but concise. (Or, last week of term/music evening/podcast 8)

This is it, then. The last week of term. This is the first full term I’ve spent at this school. I started about three weeks before the Christmas holidays, and I’ve been here ever since.

It’s been an interesting experience, and it’s one that I don’t think will finish any time soon. I applied for two secondary school jobs and got interviews for NEITHER of them. To be honest, I was surprised. So perhaps I am meant to be here for the forseeable future… We’ll see how it pans out.

This week will be slightly more busy than usual, as Wednesday evening is the (what will prove to be… delightful?) MUSIC EVENING. My beloved pop choir, recorder club and drum club will be performing their intensively practised music and I’m sure they will receive rapturous applause and admiration from the audience. Either that or bewildered murmurings and slow hand-claps. I’ll keep you informed of that one.

In other news, I have recorded my eighth podcast, imaginatively entitled – Worship (1). The (1) looks like it may have a comment, but in fact it is 1 out of 2 podcasts on worship that I will be doing. That’s my intention anyway. It’s highly unprofessional and full of ramble. I know, I sell it really well, but I can’t be anything but honest with you. I would never choose to listen to my own podcasts. But I’ll keep going.

I feel like I’m getting more rambly generally. This is not good. I need to practise at being concise. Concision is the key. Concision. There’s a word I’ve not used before.

davecast has arrived!

I have created a new site, specifically for podcasting – or davecasting – purposes. You will find it at dave8.com/davecast.

However, it is quite possible that you will never want to or need to visit the davecast site, as it is now very possible and easy to subscribe to my podcasts. If you would ever want to do that. And if you do want to do that, then I suggest you do do it :) … I won’t be publishing the podcasts here as well as there. They’ll stay at one blog, so if you’re not following things over at the davecast site, you may miss out on some quality – and I mean QUALITY – podcasting. Seriously.

The feed is: http://feeds2.feedburner.com/davecasts – notice it’s davecasts rather than simply davecast. I had committed to davecast too soon, before I found out that two other versions of davecast exist out there in the podcastosphereage. And let’s be honest – they don’t look half as exciting as my ‘casts.

You will also soon be able to subscribe via iTunes. I will publish the link as soon as it becomes available.

Now all that’s sorted out, I suppose I should actually record a podcast…

He will take us there

I am writing a sermon. I don’t do this very often, but it’s definitely something I want to do more of. It certainly ties in with my main life-passion, and it is something I need to get better at.

It had been suggested to me that I look at youth meetings that I’ve done in the past, and revamp those into preaches. But I think my best preaches would be ones about what God is saying to me right now, or recently at least.

So I have just decided that the topic of my first preach (this year, anyway) will be about God’s plans for your life. Your journey to where God is taking you. Your own personal “Promised Land”.

The content will cover some of the Israelites’ journeying through the wilderness, and their bitter complaints towards Moses and God. It will cover how God provided for them, worked miracles and showed love towards them, yet they didn’t believe. They preferred to be back in slavery in Egypt.

Where has God taken you from? What is your “Egypt”? Where is he taking you to? Are you in the middle of your journey? Don’t go back! Be aware of where God is taking you to. What passions has he put on your heart?

My main conclusion will be that if God is with us – if we are with God – then God will carry us. We need to believe him, trust him, love him and follow him. He will carry us and provide for us. God has provided our Promised Land and he will take us there.

I just twoted all over the place!

Podcast #7 – Mary had a little lamb

This doesn’t really qualify as a podcast. In fact, I’m not sure any of my feeble attempts at a podcast qualify as a podcast. But if any don’t, this one definitely does not.

It was all David’s idea. Playing two recorders at the same time. Unfortunately, one recorder is a tenor and the other a descant, so there is no interval of a third, but instead just a boring old octave. Still, it’s better than nothing. Isn’t it? Perhaps it’s not.
